Why we chose to live in a van

Living in a van can be challenging, nerve racking, ummm H E L L O bring on the anxiety, ok well not so much anxiety but maybe some nervous jitters here and there. It’s a rewarding, exciting, challenging, adventurous, oh shoot the list can go on an on but all in all a wonderful, freeing experience.

Now on to why we chose to live in a van…. honestly because we wanted to, not because we had to. We were both tired of working, eating, sleeping and in that order every single day, well….. it got boring especially when there wasn’t much left after payday to go adventuring with, so our lives were focused on sleeping, eating, working, repeat…. yeah we got tired of that.

One day we decided to work as much as we could, save the remainder and be an RV/Van Lifer! It paid off, we started our journey in June 2018, and to this day we’re still traveling. We do make pit stops here and there for a workcamping job, to recoup some money to keep on vanning on.

Check out our post on how we make money on the road and where we go to find these jobs.

Our Van

Our story is probably pretty similar to many others but there are some who are forced to move into a van because they just have no where to go, they got kicked out of their place OR like us had that moment where they were just tired of working just to pay bills and have a roof over their heads. Now wait, we do have a roof over our heads, not made of beams and drywall but made of metal but it’s all the same. Get this! No rent, that’s right we pay no rent, only feed our van the much needed gasoline and he keeps on taking us to places we never thought we’d get to see.

If you’re thinking about van life, rv life and all that type of life, I suggest you do it! Ok, I’m jumping the gun a bit but it sure is a life changer. There are many things you have to get used to but I’ll write more on that in my next post. If you have any questions or comments, please share them below, we at Van Life Duo love comments.

Happy Vanning!
